OBEDIENCE KEY TO UNCOMMON BREAKTHROUGHS

1 Sam 15:1-4 “Samuel also said unto Saul, The Lord sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the Lord. Thus saith the Lord of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt. Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.”
There you see the simple instruction given to king Saul. God told him after he was anointed king over Israel, go and destroy every living thing there. But when you read further, you see king Saul obeying that instruction partially. And with God, ninety-nine (99) % of obedience is still disobedience! And because of the disobedience, because when king Saul got to Amalek, he killed all the people there but saved Agag, the king of Amalekites. He killed all the animals except the fat ones there. And this provoked the anger of God against him. And this made him to lose his three children in a day! It also cost him his throne! It cost him his crown and also his life! I pray for you, you will not be wasted in Jesus ‘name (Amen). King Saul was wasted along the members of his family, why? Disobedience!
(Gen. 2:16-17) “And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”
This is an instruction from God to Adam. After God created Adam, He put him in a beautiful garden. Every he needed was there even before he was created! And God told to look at this beautiful garden, you can eat everything there but this particular tree at the center of the garden, don’t move close to it talk less of eating from it! In the garden, the tree of life is there. God did not ask Adam not to eat from that one. If Adam has eaten from that tree of life, there was possibility that man would not be dying! Adam ignored the tree of life, and went straight to that which God asked him not to eat from. And we all know the repercussion of this.
Gen. 3:7 “And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.”
This is what happened after eating from the tree which God asked them not to eat from. The glory of God that was their covering departed and they were exposed to nakedness, shame, affliction, sorrow and sickness found its way into their life! Disaster entered their life! Hardship and poverty entered their life! Death also entered! Why? Disobedience!
John 2:1- 6 “And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.”
The bridegroom and the bride invited Jesus into their wedding. I pray that Jesus will the guest in your family. Not just a guest but a guest of honour. As the wedding was going on, suddenly a problem ensured, their wine got finished and there was pandemonium! The mother of Jesus said to the servants “whatsoever he saith unto you, do it”. Jesus didn’t want to do anything before. May be because of the pressure of His mother, He decided to do something. His mother told the servants that whatsoever Jesus asked them to do even though it looked foolish, they should do it! By the time Jesus spke, what He said was completely foolish! Jesus asked them to fill the pots there with water and then served it! The obedience of the servants produced results and they got the best wine ever!

What is Obedience?

When we talk of obedience:
Obedience means doing what you are told to do.
Obedience means to carry out a specific instruction.
Obedience is submission to higher authority.
Obedience means to bring yourself under authority.
Obedience is yielding to the leadership of God.
You may be asking why is it that this kind of message this new pastor is bringing in here? The simple reason is because a lot of people come to church without anything to show for it! Many people come to church and unbelievers are asking but you said you go to church, where is your God? They said we that are not going to church are still doing better than you!

What is Disobedience?

Disobedience is anti-God.
It is telling God that you are wiser than God.
Disobedience is rebellion against God.
Disobedience is telling God that you can succeed without God
Disobedience is living outside the will God for your life.
Some people when you asked them to stand up they will say who are you to tell me to stand up? I’m going to sit down and there is nothing we can do about it but you are losing your miracles! There is reason why you are asked to stand up. Disobedience will rob you of your blessings.
As a minister in the house of God and with my years of experience as a servant of God, I have discovered that the reasons why some people come to church without anything to show for it are three;
• Pride and arrogance
• Rebellion
• Disobedience
These three things have robbed many people of their blessings. I pray that God will open your understanding in Jesus’ name (Amen).
Benefits of Obedience
1. Divine healing:- It is very unfortunate many people go in and out of hospital today and they call themselves children of God! Every money that comes their ways is collected by doctors! Whereas the word of God promises us divine healing and health! Why because of disobedience!
2. Uncommon promotion:- As children of God, we are supposed to enjoy the blessing of God on daily basis. It is a shame as a child of that any time they are looking for people to retrench in your place of work, you the first person on the list! Something is wrong somewhere! One of our sisters in the church I came from came to me and said pastor praise God with me. She said she got to her place of work the previous day and discovered that every worker in her department has been sacked! I was waiting for them to resumed work only to discover that they have been retrenched! The honour here is that instead of that sister to be sacked she was ppromoted.

Rewards of Disobedience
1. Disobedience brings shame.
2. Obedience will cause the heaven over a life to be closed.
3. Obedience brings sorrow
4. Affliction
5. Sickness
6. Defeat
7. Rejection
8. Demotion
9. Loss of good things
10. Untimely death

What to do

1. Genuinely surrender your life to Jesus:- As I always say that a life without Christ will always end up in crisis. Coming to church without having any encounter with Jesus is a waste of time.
2. Confess your sins and repent from them.
3. Live a holy life.
4. Avoid bad company
5. Create time for the word of God
6. Be prayerful
7. Be filled with the Holy Ghost
8. Be obedience
